Government’s air quality plan published

5th May 2017

The government has published its draft plan to improve UK air quality.

The document has been revealed ahead of the 9 May deadline imposed by a court ruling against a further deadline extension.

Consultation is now open until 15 June 2017.

Measures that will be consulted on include potential encouragement for councils to retrofit high-polluting vehicles and the option of introducing clean air zones in 27 towns and cities in England.

The draft plan can be read in full online, as can the accompanying consultation document.
