To Land’s End before tank’s end

7th April 2017

A truck manufactured by a LoCITY Champion has journeyed from John O’Groats to Land’s End – on only one fill of liquefied natural gas.

IVECO’s New Stralis NP made the iconic 874-mile trip to demonstrate the vehicle’s range and versatility, with the company’s Alternative Fuels Director Martin Flach noting that it “covered the distance over two days with ease”.

Powered by an 8.7-litre natural gas engine that delivers 400hp and 1,700 Nm torque, the truck offers the same performance as its diesel equivalent.

IVECO describes the New Stralis NP as “the first gas truck designed for long haulage”, with a range autonomy of up to 1,500km and the ability to travel from Madrid to Frankfurt without refuelling.

The New Stralis NP is just one of IVECO’s gas-powered commercial vehicles available in the UK, with other models including the Eurocargo Natural Power and the Daily Natural Power.
