Islington Council will invest in compressed natural gas (CNG) and electric vehicles across its fleet, it has confirmed.

The council is to spend around £3m this year on new CNG vehicles and expects to trial three refuse trucks and five heavy vans, among other models.

Councillor Claudia Webbe said: “We are investing in compressed natural gas technology to power our larger vans and trucks, and will keep searching out the greenest possible ways to do things.”
