Government to seek B licence derogation
The Department for Transport has published its long-awaited response to consultation on proposals to allow category B licence holders to drive alternatively fuelled light commercial vehicles.
The response notes that 92.3 per cent of those consulted specified at least one advantage that the change would provide, including economic and environmental reasons.
It concludes that the government will seek a temporary derogation from the EU third Driving Licence Directive (2006/126/EC) to allow category B licence holders to operate vehicles mentioned above up to a maximum authorised mass of 4,250kg.
