Hitachi Capital: Going electric could save businesses £14bn
Switching every HGV and van in Britain to electric alternatives could save businesses £14bn in fuel costs every year – according to a new independent report from Hitachi Capital.
The finding was published in the company’s Future of Fuel report, which has also revealed that 62 per cent of fleets surveyed now contain alternatively fuelled vehicles (AFVs).
The report estimates that electricity would be around 15p per mile cheaper than petrol or diesel for vans, or 38p per mile cheaper than diesel for HGVs.
Jon Lawes, managing director at Hitachi Capital, said: “Fleets cannot afford to ignore the amazing potential of alternative fuels – and thankfully, they’re not.
“Our report shows that 82 per cent of fleet professionals believe that it’s important to move to AFVs.”
