Consultation on ULEZ expansion
The Mayor of London has launched consultation on an expansion of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) that would cover both the North Circular and the South Circular roads.
If taken forward, the ULEZ standards would come into effect across the whole of London from 26 October 2020 for lorries and from 25 October 2021 for cars, vans and motorbikes.
The current ULEZ, covering the same central area as the congestion charge, will be enforced from 8 April 2019.
Non-compliant vans will incur a charge of £12.50 per day, while lorries will incur a charge of £100 per day.
Expanding the ULEZ to cover the two circular roads would mean approximately 100,000 people no longer living in areas that exceed legal air pollution limits, according to the Mayor’s office.
