Six major fleet operators are to use natural gas-powered lorries as part of a trial funded by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles and Innovate UK.

Kuehne + Nagel, Wincanton, Asda, Brit European, Howard Tenens, and Great Bear will together test the effectiveness of 81 compressed natural gas or liquefied natural gas vehicles.

The trial, hosted by Air Liquide and project managed by Cenex, will feature a range of vehicle configurations and provide a large amount of data on performance, fuel efficiency, reliability and cost.
